Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …
Jordan Davis is in the ‘best shape of his life.’ His secret? Falling in love with the Peloton – InquirerDavis, who turned 25 the day the Eagles beat the Green Bay Packers to kick off their playoff run, had an explanation when asked about it later Tuesday after the Eagles finished another day of organized team activities. He’s a little late to the party, but Davis “fell in love with Peloton.” (His favorite instructor is Ally Love.) […] If you’re feeling like you’ve read a version of this story before, it’s because you probably have. Aiming to become more of an every-down player after struggling with conditioning during his rookie season, Davis worked out with an Atlanta-based trainer during his first NFL offseason. Last year around this time, after an up-and-down second season, Davis talked about ditching AriZona teas in favor of a low-calorie mango juice and adding hiking to his conditioning routine. Call this the year of discipline for Davis, who said “discipline” is his “word of the year for 2025.” “Discipline is just having the strength to do it even when you don’t feel like doing it,” he said.
Big Eagles star finally got in shape after noticing his face was ‘a little fat’ – NJ.comOne reason Davis was motivated to improve his conditioning last year had more to do with his physical appearance than his football goals. The Eagles’ defensive tackle said Tuesday that he “wanted to look sexy” and felt like his face “was getting a little fat,” inspiring him to lose weight. But Davis was also driven to reach his potential on the field, proving to the Eagles that he should be on the team for the foreseeable future. “When they brought up that fifth-year option, I knew that they wanted me here for a reason and they’re excited and they have trust in me,” Davis said. “Why not give them a return on the investment and work hard?”
In Vic We Trust – Iggles BlitzFangio had a lot of praise for Jordan Davis. He seemed genuinely excited about his young NT. Fangio talked about Davis being in the best shape of his life. I’m sure many of you will roll your eyes because we hear stuff like this so much, but that’s where Fangio is different. He doesn’t throw around platitudes like that carelessly. Fangio talked about how Davis played better down the stretch last year. He said Davis started practicing better and that carried over to games. You could say the light went on for Davis. This could be great news for Fangio and the defense. Davis has a high ceiling. He’s not come close to reaching it so far and that has left some people doubting if he ever will. This offseason does feel different. […] That doesn’t look like the Davis we are used to seeing. If he can truly build off his improved play from late last year, Davis could be more than just a good run-stuffer. He might have real value this season. When Fangio was asked why it took so long for Davis to get in good shape (middle of 2024), Fangio said “I’m going to duck the question.” That answer told you it was Davis simply not doing what needed to be done. For now, that’s in the past.
7 big takeaways from Vic Fangio at Eagles’ OTAs – NBCSPJordan Davis in great shape. The Eagles this offseason picked up Jordan Davis’s fifth-year option that will pay him nearly $13 million in 2026. Fangio on Tuesday said he didn’t have anything to do with that decision but did like what he saw from Davis late in 2024. “I would say the last seven or eight games including the playoffs, (Davis) played very well down the stretch,” Fangio said. “I think that’s carried over into this offseason and I anticipate it carrying over into the season. I think he’s in the best shape that he’s ever been in, which he kind of got into late in the season last year and he’s carried it over, so I think he’s going to do very well for us this year.” When asked why it took Davis so long to get into his best shape last season, Fangio allowed that for some guys it takes time but also said, “I’m ducking that question.” After having just one sack in 17 regular season starts in 2024, Davis had two in the playoffs. Fangio said he saw improvement from Davis as a pass rusher late in the season. “He got better towards those last seven or eight games. He really did,” Fangio said. “You saw it in practice first. A lot of people think you don’t need practice, you do need practice, and he showed it in practice first and then it carried over into the games. I think he realized that, felt it, felt good, and he’s just carried it over all offseason.”
Eagles OTA Practice Notes: Position battle updates, play of the day, and more – BGNJALEN HURTS UPDATE: The reigning Super Bowl MVP continues to look sharp; the ball has barely hit the ground during his two media-attended OTA practices. The vast majority of his passing attempts have been short throws where the ball is coming out quick. But Hurts did notably push the ball downfield to Dallas Goedert, who was able to make an over-the-shoulder catch in stride (with Zach Baun trailing close behind) for a big gain down the left sideline. That was the play of the day.
Eagles OTA practice notes: Good vibes all around – PhillyVoiceJahan Dotson’s best attribute coming out of college was his hands. He rarely dropped anything at Penn State. Oddly, he did have his fair share of drops in his first two seasons in the pros with Washington. I was watching him during a drill in which the receivers were making one-handed catches, and he was nonchalantly hauling in everything, while it was harder for the other receivers. If he can at least show that he will catch everything that he should catch, perhaps he could gain more trust from Jalen Hurts this season. (It’s worth noting that Dotson had 0 drops for the Eagles in 2024, per pro-football-reference.com.)
Eagles OTAs: Cooper DeJean at safety, Vic Fangio works with Jihaad Campbell, Jordan Davis’ Peloton results – PHLY3. During the warm-up period, it was notable that Vic Fangio was essentially coaching Jihaad Campbell one-on-one. They were in a corner, and Fangio was putting Campbell through drills while Campbell recovers from injury. “Right now he’s working at ILB because there’s a lot more to learn there,” Fangio said of Campbell. “So that’s where we’ll start him. He won’t hit the practice field until sometime in August. So, we’re doing all we can. He’s doing all he can in meetings, we’re doing all we can with him on the field. I take him to the side and do an individual drill with him that’s suited to what he can do right now. So, he’s working good and trying to pick it up.” Fangio said Campbell could potentially help as a pass rusher, but he must get on the field first.
Every NFL team’s Achilles’ heel: Highest-graded player against each team since 2020 – PFFWashington Commanders: T Jordan Mailata. Mailata dominates just about everybody he faces nowadays, but he saves his best work for the Commanders. Across 10 matchups since 2020, Mailata has recorded a ridiculous 94.4 PFF overall grade. Three of the seven highest-graded games of his career have come against Washington, including both of the team’s regular-season duels in 2024. […] Kansas City Chiefs: C Jason Kelce. Kelce faced the Chiefs three times across his final three NFL seasons and dominated in multiple facets. Combining those performances, he earned an elite 93.8 PFF overall grade. He allowed just one pressure, a hurry in Week 4 of 2021, across the three outings. His 96.5 PFF run-blocking grade in the 2021 matchup was the highest he recorded in a game in his career. […] Green Bay Packers: C Jason Kelce. Kelce faced Green Bay twice in his final four seasons in the NFL and played very well both times. He earned a 92.9 PFF overall grade across those two matchups, highlighted by his 92.1 PFF run-blocking grade. He left quite an impression in his final game against the Packers in 2022 when he recorded a 93.0 PFF overall grade — the second-best single-game grade of his career.

2025 NFL All-Paid Team: Saquon Barkley, Dak Prescott headline top earners by position – NFL.comAVERAGE PER YEAR: $20.6 million. From creating the spin-hurdle to becoming the ninth player in NFL history to rush for 2,000 yards (and sitting out in Week 18 with the record in sight), it took all of one season for Barkley to cement a legacy — and get an extension — in Philadelphia. He joined Hall of Famers Terrell Davis (1998) and Emmitt Smith (1992, 1993, 1995) as the only players to win the rushing title and the Super Bowl in the same season. Barkley finished with the most rush yards (2,504) and scrimmage yards (2,857) in a season, including playoffs, in NFL history. As a result, Philadelphia made him the NFL’s highest-paid running back with a two-year, $41.2 million extension in March. Barkley got almost as much guaranteed money in his extension ($36 million) as his initial contract was worth in total value ($37.8 million). Christian McCaffrey ($19 million APY) and Derrick Henry ($15 million APY) are the only other running backs making $15 million or more a year.
Saquon Barkley’s Madden NFL ratings throughout his career – ESPNHe’d found his groove: Madden NFL 21 kept him at 91 OVR and Madden NFL 22 started him off one point lower, at 90 OVR. This was the start of a temporary downward trend, which saw Barkley reduced to an 86 OVR in Madden NFL 23 — his lowest point since his debut. However, this was also another turning point for Barkley — and his new direction was upward. A fantastic season saw him climb to new rating heights, earning him a 93 OVR in Madden NFL 24, which was to be his final appearance for the Giants in the game. His debut with the Philadelphia Eagles in the current iteration of the franchise kicked off with a 92 OVR, a number that rose to 98 OVR throughout the season’s rating updates to reflect his record-breaking performance and substantial contributions to the Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX victory.
49ers given a B+ in the Bryce Huff trade with the Eagles – Niners NationThe Eagles have former first-rounder Nolan Smith Jr., a couple of free agent signings in Azeez Ojulari and Josh Uche, and an up-and-coming pass rusher in Jalyx Hunt. Watching how Philadelphia used its edge rushers, it was clear that Huff was a miscast. I saw Huff drop into coverage a couple of times a game and be asked to play the strong side, taking on pulling offensive linemen in the running game. You don’t need to be an expert to understand that’s not Huff’s expertise. Still, Huff’s “struggles” would have been upgrades from Floyd, Yetur Gross-Matos, and Sam Okuayinonu. Each of the latter three had a win percentage significantly lower than Huff’s in 2024. Whether it’s win pressure percentage or another advanced metric, Huff clears the non-Nick Bosa pass rushers on the roster.
Commanders Reacts Survey: Rookie out-performance and veteran absence from OTAs – Hogs HavenThe media was invited to attend a single day of Phase 3 OTAs last week, and, as always, they shared their observations, providing a single brief snapshot of the situation at the Commanders training facility. One notable area of reporting last week was that three veteran players — WR Terry McLaurin, OT Laremy Tunsil, and CB Marshon Lattimore — were not present. It seemed clear that McLaurin’s absence was related to his ongoing contract extension negotiations with the team. There had been plenty of angst about his absence under similar circumstances in 2022, but that all resolved itself in a positive manner. The feeling from most people seems to be that McLaurin has more than earned the benefit of the doubt — that he is simply ‘taking care of business’ and that everything will get worked out quickly. In short, nothing to see here. The situation with the other two veterans, each acquired via trade since the start of November, is less clear cut. Either or both could be attempting to negotiate new contract terms since both have 2 seasons remaining with little or no guaranteed money but there have been no reports that Adam Peters is negotiating revised contracts with either player. Neither was with the team last offseason when Dan Quinn was talking openly about the importance of the offseason program.
Micah Parsons says he’ll be at mandatory minicamp, notes contract situation is in ‘owner’s hands’ – Blogging The BoysWhatever the case, Parsons is going to report to minicamp next week. It is worth noting that this is, unlike recent OTAs, is a mandatory event and therefore he would be subject to fines if he were not in attendance. Notably, Parsons said in his post that the situation was “in the owner’s hands” which would suggest that Jerry Jones and Co. are the ones (at least in his perception) holding this process up still. Given the aforementioned history, the Cowboys front office does not exactly have the benefit of the doubt to lean on in the eye of the public. The clock, as it has been for some time now, is ticking. But at least we know that Parsons will be in attendance next week.
Phil Simms: Jaxson Dart has to be Giants’ starting QB before the season is over – Big Blue ViewPhil Simms doesn’t want to hear about rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart sitting for the entirety of the 2025 season. “That is the most overused stupid thing that I see people say on TV,” Simms told Kay Adams on the ‘Up & Adams Show’.
Carolina Panthers behind-the-scenes NFL Draft video reveals a stunning trade that almost was – SB NationI believe Carolina’s offer was to take No. 26 and a 2026 1st round pick — which would have represented about a 110 point swing in the Panthers’ favor, precisely the kind of “blow me away” deal they were looking for. Ultimately the Rams didn’t get the receiver they wanted. Carolina did. However, Los Angeles still got phenomenal value by flipping their No. 26 pick to the Falcons for a future 1st, which will likely be higher than where they would pick next year anyway. It’s just fascinating to see how close deals like this are to getting done, even if they never materialize.
