Lightweight Drew Dober needed a win on Saturday when he faced Manuel Torres in the UFC Mexico City co-main event. Instead, he was finished in under two minutes.

Dober entered the fight coming off back-to-back losses and having lost three of his last four bout. A quick combination floored the 36-year old early in the opening round. Hurt, Dober tried to get the fight to the ground and committed to a single-leg takedown. Torres delivered a series of unanswered hammer fists that forced the referee to intervene.

Dober was severely hurt by the first hammer fist. He absorbed a dozen more before the fight was stopped. He quickly got back to his feet and began squaring up with Torres, clearly unaware of the situation. Dober protested the stoppage but no one inside Arena CDMX questioned the referee’s decision.

Following the loss, Dober released a statement via social media.

“Well, that sucked,” Dober wrote on X. “A beautifully timed 1-2 by Manuel Torres. There’s not much to go off of other than, unfortunately, stepping in front of the rear hand of a long power puncher.”

Saturday was the second time in Dober’s career that he’s fought in Mexico City. Both times he suffered ’embarrassingly’ loses. He was defeated by Efraín Escudero at UFC 188 in June 2015. The only lasted 54 seconds.

“As much as I love Mexico City, it’s given me two of my most embarrassing losses of my career, haha. But the food and people are still the best,” Dober wrote in a follow-up tweet. “I’m happy and healthy and excited to be a stay at home dad for a while.”
