Draymond Urges Steph Curry Not to be ‘Superman’ in Injury Comeback

Steph Curry usually plays the hero role for the Warriors, lately that has been Batman, but Draymond Green doesn’t want him playing anything at the expense of his health.

“Nah, we’re not going to Superman this thing. If he’s in a place where he can play, I’m sure he will,” Green told reporters after Golden State’s 117-110 Game 4 loss to the Timberwolves.

“Him and Rick [Celebrini] and everyone else will figure that out, but we don’t need Superman. You got to play the long game, so, if he can, we know he will. But there’s no pressure. We got to find a way to win whether he plays or not.”

Marc J. Spears of Andscape asked Steph himself about Draymond’s comments and he shared similar sentiments.

““Even if I wanted to be Superman, I couldn’t,” injured Warriors guard Stephen Curry told @andscape in response to Green’s words about Game 5. Curry added he doesn’t expect to be available in 5 and won’t know anything more about his hamstring until his next medical evaluation.”

Steve Kerr was asked a ‘hypothetical’ question by media member, surrounding a scenario where if Steph came to him and said he was ready to play in Game 5, would they let him? But Kerr simply told the media the team will have an update on Wednesday.

Although it’s looking fairly unlikely that Curry will return for Game 5, Green says there’s things happening in the background.

“As far as Steph, he’s working his tail off every day,” Green said. “He’s in here eight, nine hours a day, working and doing what he can to try to get back.

“His morale is great. Obviously, nobody is excited right now, but he’s working to get back. That’s all you can do at this point.”
