Brandel Chamblee and his aversion to LIV Golf could be noticed right from the arrival of this controversial league on the golf scene. The well-known analyst was the fiercest critic of this format, opposing the arrival of Saudi money in the world of golf.
A few days ago, the media reported an interesting news; PGA Tour important figures had a meeting with Donald Trump, wanting to put an end to the agreement between them and PIF.
Chamblee reacted to news of the meeting a few days ago, stressing that such a sequence of events could have been expected.
“I felt like it was inevitable after the election. You know, I had the pleasure of playing with President Trump last year and almost every single hole when we would putt out, he would want to come over and talk to me about LIV Golf, about Saudi’s involvement in the game of golf, and he was so magnanimous about our differences.”- he said, as quoted by Golf Monthly.
Chamblee seems to have softened his views after having a meeting with Donald Trump. Namely, the current US president revealed an interesting fact to him: The main man of LIV and PIF, Yasir Al-Rumayyan, is passionate about golf, and he wants this sport to go in the right direction.
“At one point he said, ‘Look, I know you and I differ in this opinion but hear me out.’ He said Yasir [Al-Rumayyan], the gentleman who runs LIV and heads the PIF. He said, ‘Yasir loves golf more than you do and more than I do.’ Now, that’s hard to believe because President Trump plays a lot of golf and I’m crazy about it, but he was serious. He was like, he loves golf that much.”- Chamblee continued.

The current US president also revealed that the Saudis must diversify their economy, aware that oil is not a resource they can rely on in the long run. For this reason, the Saudis put money into various projects, aware that the future of the world may look significantly different from this.
Chamblee continued, stressing that US president is excited about the Saudi’s arrival in the sport. The well-known analyst admits that he had the biggest problem with human rights, believing that the Saudis should apologize. Trump told him that he had to look to the future, considering that it could be the best thing for everyone from the side.
Despite being aware that Trump has had many statements that are logical, Chamblee admits that he disagrees with the US president, but acknowledges that he has made strong arguments.
Ultimately, Brandle says Trump changed his perspective.
