Donald Cerrone re-enters drug testing pool, plans summer time UFC return

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone introduced his retirement from combating following his UFC 276 submission loss to Jim Miller in July 2022.  Almost three years later, the 41-year previous is planning a comeback. 

The primary hurdle Cerrone should cross earlier than stepping again within the cage is to re-enter the UFC anti-doping drug testing program.  On Friday, Cerrone introduced that he had completed that.    

“I simply re-entered the testing pool,” Cerrone stated on the “Pacman Jones Present.”  “I’ve to be six months clear. Most likely June, July we are going to make the comeback. Coming again for 2 extra. Simply two extra. I would like 50 fights within the UFC (underneath Zuffa). I promised the spouse it doesn’t matter what occurs, regardless of the outcomes – two extra and that’s it.”

On the time of his retirement, Cerrone had gone winless in his final seven fights.  His final win contained in the octagon got here in Could 2019.  In his time away from combating, Cerrone has opening admitted to utilizing performance-enhancing medication.  Many have been crucial of him returning because of the PED use.  

Whereas Cerrone competed within the light-weight and welterweight divisions when he was an energetic UFC fighter, he anticipates returning as a middleweight.

“I feel it’ll be at ’85 is what I’m coming again at,” Cerrone stated. “We’ll see my weight as I begin to choose up my coaching.”
