Jan Blachowicz, as he so often does, battled to a close decision loss in the UFC London co-main event last weekend across the pond. But the former light heavyweight champion, who made his first appearance since summer 2023 (thanks to this), believes his verdict against Carlos Ulberg was not without its share of controversy.
“This camp was one of the best I’ve had,” Blachowicz wrote on Instagram. “I missed this, every part of this game. The welcome and support during fight week for UFC London from the whole UFC team was amazing. More controversy on the record, as it turns out the approach to significant strikes doesn’t align with the actual meaning. I’ll leave the verdict for discussion.”

“What happened in the stands after the announcement, and what’s happening online right now, is pretty telling,” Blachowicz continued. “I appreciate it, but the verdict is out there, and unfortunately, it will stay on my record. We keep moving forward, going for more. Your support has been huge, and I’ll remember this moment for a long time.”
The loss to Ulberg was his second straight and Blachowicz hasn’t seen the win column since early 2022. Fortunately, the Polish power puncher has managed to retain a seat in the Top 5 of the light heavyweight rankings, a spot that could improve (or get even worse) depending on his next performance, which should come before the end of 2025.
As for Ulberg, he’ll likely need another win before securing a light heavyweight title shot.
