It comes after he had his best game for the team yet, notching 32 points, 11 assists, 9 rebounds and a steal in Wednesday night’s in a 126-116 win over the Mavericks in San Antonio.

It is a huge blow for San Antonio, who are already without superstar Victor Wembanyama due to blood clots and head coach Gregg Popovich for the rest of the season.

“San Antonio Spurs star De’Aaron Fox will undergo season-ending surgery Tuesday to repair tendon damage in his left pinkie, the team said,” Shams reported.

“Fox suffered the tendon damage during training camp in October while with the Sacramento Kings and played through the ailment all season.”

Shams went on to say that the decision to undergo the surgery now was in order to speed up the healing process and promote offseason chemistry with the roster.

He added, “The team said it expects him to make a full recovery and be ready for the start of next season.”

The surgery will be performed in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

The guard joined the Spurs from the Kings at the NBA trade deadline and ended up played 17 games for San Antonio, where he averaged Fox averaged 19.7 points, 6.8 assists and 1.5 steals.

In 62 games for the Spurs and Kings this season, he averaged 23.5 points, 6.3 assists and 4.8 rebounds.
