The Los Angeles Dodgers roster is oozing with talent.

A team that is coming off its eighth World Series championship responded with one of the most dominant offseasons that this sport has ever seen.

With all the talent in the world, however, roster restrictions mandated by MLB are required for all teams and the Dodgers must adhere to them.

There isn’t a lot guaranteed in life, and almost less guaranteed in baseball, but despite the talent on the team, there are still some question marks swirling around a few positions with Opening Day right around the corner.

The Orange County Register’s Bill Plunkett reported that manager Dave Roberts still has concerns surrounding center field and second base, as the skipper’s vision for the lineup is “very clear everywhere but center field and second base.”

As for the infield, the Dodgers were supposed to have an easy decision with the signing of Korean Baseball Organization standout Hyeseong Kim. Despite the four Gold Glove awards he boasts from his time overseas, his recent offensive struggles in spring training are proving to be more concerning by the day.

It also brings up a good point regarding utility man and NLCS MVP Tommy Edman.

Edman is someone that Roberts confirmed is “going to play every day.” With his versatility, however, it’s unclear whether the Dodgers will utilize his talents at center field or second base.

With only one roster spot left to fill, a flexible player is a must for this Dodgers roster.

Chris Taylor comes to mind as a Swiss army knife able to play in the outfield and at second base, along with Andy Pages who has the edge on Taylor with his age but certainly lacks the experience.

The 2021 NLCS MVP Eddie Rosario who has recently joined the team also has experience in the outfield and is looking to once again find his spark offensively.

The Opening Day roster is likely going to look immensely different from what it will be at the season’s end, but the kind of talent between Los Angeles and their farm system is undeniable.
