D’Angelo Russell said that he wants to return to the Brooklyn Nets next season during an interview with Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
“Yeah. Why wouldn’t I? … Heck yeah. I want to be wherever I’m at. I’m here. I love these guys. I appreciate this, and I would love to be back,” said Russell when asked about re-signing with the Nets this offseason.
Russell is currently on the final year of a two-year, $36 million deal and will be an unrestricted free agent.
Russell also spoke on the trust that he has with Jordi Fernandez.
“If my shots aren’t falling, he still trusts me to be out there to make plays. I respect that more than anything. I’ve been kind of categorized as a guy who only makes shots, but being a basketball player is my strength. For him to trust me so soon since I’ve been here, I’m nothing but appreciative,” said Russell.
Russell is currently averaging 13.8 points and 5.7 assists as a Net.
