Despite seemingly striking a deal, Jake Paul and Canelo Alvarez’s boxing match was canceled, and Dana White has now weighed in on the situation.
‘The Problem Child’ is hoping to continue his push toward greatness in the sport, though he has a long way to go. The 28-year-old has an 11-1 record in the ring but is often tormented by fans who believe his single loss came against his only fair fight against somebody on his level at the time.
Jake Paul is desperate to switch the narrative surrounding his name, and thought he struck gold when an agreement was rumored to be in place alongside Canelo Alvarez.
That bout was scrapped shortly later and Paul will now look elsewhere for his return to action.
According to reports, Turki Alalshikh managed to persuade Canelo Alvarez to sign a four-fight deal with the resurging boxing scene in Saudi Arabia, which ultimately damages Alvarez’s meeting with Jake Paul.
While the situation confused fans, Dana White wasn’t surprised. The UFC CEO shared his thoughts on the news.
“They control the sport of boxing right now,” White said in response to the Canelo Alvarez confusion. “I don’t think it’s hard for them to steal anybody from anybody.”
“I don’t know the ins and outs of that deal, but I’m sure it’s not too hard to steal somebody away from them to Saudi.”
“Totally different levels there. Not even the same universe of levels.”

Turki Alalshikh has been a revelation for the sport of boxing, managing to make super-fights that may have otherwise been brushed under the carpet and forgotten about.
The biggest fights in the ring in recent times have likely come due to Alalshikh’s chokehold of the sport, and many more blockbuster events could be destined to follow.
Though his fight against Jake Paul didn’t come to fruition, Canelo Alvarez’s next one is being teased as a spectacle—with Terence Crawford and David Benavidez two names linked to the Mexican.
