Cristiano Ronaldo has extended his contract with Al Nassr, and the club is now working to build a competitive squad for the next two seasons with the soccer icon at the center of it. Following his key involvement in the club’s decision, Ronaldo has reacted to Jorge Jesus‘ appointment as the new head coach.
After a disappointing 2024–25 campaign under Stefano Pioli — during which Al Nassr fell out of the title race and failed to qualify for the next AFC Champions League Elite — the Italian manager was dismissed. In their search for a new leader, Al Nassr moved quickly to secure a high-profile name, with Ronaldo playing an influential role behind the scenes.
“Bem-vindo (Welcome), Mister Jorge Jesus,” wrote Ronaldo in an Instagram Story, reposting Al Nassr’s official announcement of the Portuguese coach. Having played a key role in securing his appointment, Ronaldo is now expected to build a strong relationship with his compatriot as they aim for silverware.
Jorge Jesus joins Al Nassr after two successful seasons with Saudi Pro League rivals Al Hilal, where he claimed the league title, a King’s Cup, and two Saudi Super Cups. With a proven track record, Jesus is now seen as the manager who could finally guide Ronaldo to his first trophy in the Middle East.
Cristiano Ronaldo seen as key to Jesus’ appointment
Following the expiration of his contract with Al Hilal, Jesus left the club just before the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, sparking speculation about his next destination. But it was Cristiano Ronaldo who made the difference in convincing him to join Al Nassr.

Speaking to the press as he boarded his flight to Riyadh, Jesus revealed Ronaldo’s critical influence on the decision. “If it weren’t for Cristiano’s call, I definitely wouldn’t be here,” he admitted, referring to his new post at Al Nassr.
Jesus also acknowledged his mission is to help Ronaldo finally lift a trophy with the club. “Cristiano Ronaldo is a player who has always won wherever he’s played. He hasn’t won in Saudi Arabia yet, and I’ll see if I can help him do that. It’ll be easy to work with him—we speak the same language, and that makes everything easier.”
