Cristiano Ronaldo wrapped up the 2024–25 season with Al Nassr on Monday, as his side fell 3–2 to Al Fateh in their final Saudi Pro League match. Following the game—and amid swirling speculation about his participation in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup—the Portuguese icon posted a cryptic four-word message about his future.
Al Nassr’s season fell short of expectations, finishing without a trophy for a second straight year. The club also failed in the last game to qualify to the next edition of the AFC Champions League, in another huge blow for the team’s aspirations in the short term.
Without international competition next season, and his current deal expiring in June 2025, Cristiano Ronaldo took on his social media to deliver a subtle message about his future. “This chapter is over,” wrote Ronaldo on an Instagram post.
While the post sparked speculation, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner followed it with a reassuring message that seemed to rule out retirement. “The story? Still being written. Grateful to all,” Ronaldo ended his message.
