Conor McGregor’s combat sports career has been put on hold for much longer than anticipated, but it looks like he may finally be ready to make his return to the cage.
This time last year, ‘The Notorious’ looked set to end his then-three-year layoff in a main event bout against Michael Chandler at UFC 303. Injury forced him out of the fight, and the Irishman hasn’t been heavily linked with an octagon appearance since, until now.
Posting on his social media, Conor McGregor surprised fans with a short video of his recent training sessions in the gym. According to the video, a visibly gassed McGregor endured 10 rounds of pad work, as rumors of his return begin to build.
The 36-year-old looked sharp, mixing up his strikes as he often does in competition.
This is the first sign of a return from Conor McGregor since he announced a prolonged break from the sport. The former two-division UFC champion has aspirations of one day leading his country of Ireland as its president, which hasn’t gone down well with some of his fans.
Whether or not he has put his political career behind him, does this recent training footage indicate a comeback is on the horizon for McGregor?

McGregor was quick to speak out after Paddy Pimblett’s recent win over Chandler, hinting that unfinished business may lead to the two veterans colliding inside the octagon.
A Conor McGregor return would arguably be one of the biggest moments in the sport’s history, but the Dublin native doesn’t want a regular venue.
In typical McGregor fashion, he wants to go big or go home for any future mixed martial arts fight, with his sights firmly set on a stadium event—though Dana White isn’t the biggest fan of the idea.
