Manchester City will aim to move back into the top five with victory over Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium, having been condemned to a season without a major trophy with their defeat in the FA Cup final.

City were stunned 1-0 by Crystal Palace at Wembley on Saturday, meaning the Community Shield is the sole piece of silverware Pep Guardiola can claim from a hugely disappointing campaign.

Guardiola did indeed talk up his side’s victory in the season curtain-raiser back in August when speaking ahead of the visit of the Cherries, but he will know the season will now be judged on City’s ability to achieve the bare minimum of sealing Champions League qualification for next term.

A win against Bournemouth would see City jump into third and put themselves in the driver’s seat for a top-five finish, but Guardiola’s men will need to be wary of Andoni Iraola’s side, who still have designs on a European place themselves.

101GreatGoals has the full team news as a City legend gets the chance to say farewell in their final home game of the season.

Manchester City team news

Kevin De Bruyne will lead City out for his last appearance at the Etihad Stadium before leaving the club.

Guardiola makes four changes from the FA Cup final. Ederson reassumes goalkeeping duties from Stefan Ortega, while Matheus Nunes comes in for Nico O’Reilly.

Mateo Kovacic and Ilkay Gündoğan replace Jeremy Doku and Savinho, with the latter left out of the squad altogether.

Manchester City: Ederson, Nunes, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol, Kovacic, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Silva, Marmoush, Haaland

Substitutes: Ortega, Ake, Grealish, Doku, Gonzalez, Rodri, Foden, Bobb, O’Reilly

Bournemouth, meanwhile, make two changes from the side beaten 1-0 at home by Aston Villa 10 days ago.

Julian Araujo and Justin Kluivert come into the starting XI.

Bournemouth: Arrizabalaga, Araujo, Zabarnyi, Huijsen, Kerkez, Adams, Cook, Tavernier, Kluivert, Semenyo, Evanilson

Substitutes: Dennis, Senesi, Smith, Soler, Akinmboni, Brooks, Winterburn, Jebbison, Silcott-Duberry
