Chiefs News: Attention shifts to Trent McDuffie’s contract

Last week, I posted the following question in reference to the NFL combine and the players that our Miami Dolphins had met with:

Among the players that Miami is reported to have met with, which of these prospects would you like to see the team make a concerted effort to draft at some point during the draft?

Below are some of your thoughts and answers on the PQOTD-

Yarganaught didn’t know!

Charles Grant, OT, William & Mary

I didn’t realize anyone from The Tribe was eligible to play in the NFL. I would have spent more time inside the stadium watching the games, instead of tailgating, if I had known they were playing real football.

finfanfromsiam likes the safety from Georgia and the corner from Michigan.

Starks S, Johnson CB.

Balantine has a complete draft plan.

My choice for the draft is trade down and take Zabel. He is a plug-in at guard, and a instant back-up at tackle. Also, if Paul doesn’t work, then Zabel can.

That should give us low 3rd round pick.

If Starks is available at 48, that is a no- brainer. Or, take 48 w/ 115 and trade lower to get him, if there.

Then we can address TE/WR and DL with the two third round picks.

That is my thoughts at the moment.

SlayerNation1 is also on board with the former Bulldog.

Starks, from that list.

2024 would have had the same Safety production rolling out 2 Tackling Dummies every Sunday.

Instead, they fielded 2 dummies who couldn’t tackle.

Spok507 likes Gabriel for his skill set and size, which is similar to Tua’s.

After reading up and watching some tape on Dillon Gabriel, I’d be on board taking him in the 4th. His size isn’t much different from Tua’s, and his skill set is similar meaning they wouldn’t have to adjust the offense much for him to take over when needed. He’s been a starter in various schemes his entire career and led Oregon to the Big Ten Championship by reading the field, keeping the offense moving and not making mistakes. He’s also more mobile than Tua and much more durable despite his size. He didn’t have to scramble much considering Oregon had a very good OLine, but was able to do so and extend plays when needed. I think he’d be a good fit. Depending on who they can bring in as a veteran, having someone like Gabriel to develop would be worth a late 3rd or 4th if he’s still there.

In response to Spok507, Dolphster points out Gabriel’s lack of size but believes that he could become a decent NFL backup.

I think he is only 5’11” (I could be wrong) so that concerns me some. But I think he could be a solid NFL backup which is of course even more important for Miami with Tua always being an injury concern.

Spok507 then replied to Dolphster, pointing out the similarities between Gabriel and Tau as well as a couple of differences that Gabriel has over Tua.

Tua’s only listed at 6’ (and I think that’s generous) so, like I said, he isn’t that much different than Tua. It’s his added mobility I liked. Despite being a good pocket passer and being able to read defenses quickly, he was in a few different offensive schemes and was able to adapt to them all and run them well. So his potential is intriguing. And he’s seemingly more durable — he started and played every game for Oregon last season going 13-0. He’s missed 11 games in his college career with most of those at Oklahoma when he broke his clavical in the 3rd game and was out the rest of the season. A clavical isn’t something that is a recurring injury, so I’d take that over concussions and a destroyed hip.

It was a slow night, but we still wound up with some solid responses. If you missed the initial post HERE, which player that the Miami Dolphins front office met with at the NFL Combine would you like to see added to the roster in April?

As always, thank you to everyone who stopped by to answer our Phinsider Question of the Day.
