Clear favorite emerges for Jets quarterback

The Jets are cutting ties with Aaron Rodgers and he will now be looking for a new home, with a favorite having already emerged, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.

Rodgers has +200 odds to land with the Pittsburgh Steelers, likely via free agency, although it is unclear if he will actually continue his career.

The Raiders also have a gaping hole at quarterback and no true road map to a top quarterback in the NFL draft since they own the No. 6 pick, leaving them with the second-best odds at +300.

The biggest stunner is the San Francisco 49ers sitting at +350 odds to make a shocking move and seemingly replace extension-eligible Brock Purdy for Rodgers.

You may remember that the 49ers were looking to convince Tom Brady to come out of retirement and put Purdy on the bench in 2023.

Oddsmakers certainly believe that a repeat could be in the works for Rodgers, who preferred going to the 49ers in 2021 before returning to the Packers.

This free agency could have tons of intrigue and drama as the Jets prepare to move on from their star quarterback.

If he opts to retire, all bets are void.

The Steelers have no quarterbacks under contract for the 2025 season, but did express interest in re-signing Russell Wilson to a long-term extension.

But don’t think that coach Mike Tomlin won’t make a change at a seconds notice, as backup quarterback Justin Fields led the team to a 4-2 record and a win before being benched for Wilson.

“That’s why I’m well compensated,” Tomlin said after making the decision to turn to Wilson over Fields.

Tomlin does have some statistical backing on this, despite Rodgers enduring a tough campaign with the Jets.

Betting on the NFL?

The Titans (+750) would also make sense, should they decide to draft Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter No. 1 overall.

We will keep a close eye on this as the offseason develops, as “next team odds” consistently predict where organizations are trending in terms of moves, as DraftKings previously predicted that Brian Schottenheimer would be the Cowboys coach despite no early reports going in that direction.
