Claressa Shields spends a few minutes talking to Fight Hype about what she’s targeting for the foreseeable future of her career and whether she’d consider working with Jake Paul’s MVP outfit which has been steadily consolidating a lot of the top talent in women’s boxing as of late. Here’s some of what she had to say below.

Shields on which fight can continue to grow her profile

“I think me fighting against a Lauren Price at 154 — Olympic gold medalist versus two-time Olympic gold medalist in women’s boxing — is a really great fight. I think that me versus Savannah Marshall here in the U.S. is a very great fight. And regardless who I fight, my brand is going to continue to grow because of the work that I put into it and the things I’m doing outside of the ring and also inside of the ring.

“I feel that those are fights that I want, and then of course a fight with Mikaela Mayer.”

On MVP signing a bunch of top female boxers and if she could potentially work with them

“Anything is possible but I’m going to be respected. I am pound-for-pound #1. You don’t have to like me but you’re going to respect me. Jake is still very disrespectful and also ‘Nakisa’ is very disrespectful, too. So I don’t like neither one of them and I won’t be talking to them.

“If they got somebody who they think can beat me in a fight we can go ahead and make the fight happen and I’m willing to come over there, up on their turf, under their umbrella and beat their fighter, but I’m still going to be under my GWOAT umbrella and just be the greatest.”
