Christian Pulisic’s Serie A move from Premier League pays off: USMNT star hits new impressive heights at Milan as market value triples

Milan have found consistency in just a few key figures this season, with Christian Pulisic being one of them. As the Rossoneri continue their push in both domestic and European competitions, these players have become irreplaceable. Their influence has been evident in match after match, with Pulisic stepping up in crucial moments.

The trend continued against Como, where the American was once again instrumental. The Netherlands international Tijjani Reijnders was the one who delivered a goal and an assist, further proving why Milan moved quickly to extend his contract until 2030. Meanwhile, the 26-year-old USMNT star, also set to sign a contract extension, produced another decisive performance—one of many that have defined his resurgence in Italy.

Pulisic is experiencing one of the most productive seasons of his career. His goal at San Siro last weekend marked his 15th of the season, equaling his personal best. With several matches still to play, there’s every reason to believe he will surpass that mark.

His numbers speak for themselves: nine goals in Serie A and six assists, in addition to his contributions in the Champions League, where he has already exceeded expectations. Unlike last season, when his goals primarily came against weaker opposition, this year he has made his mark in crucial encounters—including a goal against Inter and a comeback brace against Lecce that prevented Milan from slipping into crisis.

He has emerged as a key creative force, ranking as the most productive midfielder in Serie A this season, with 15 direct goal involvements. His performances have erased any doubts surrounding his move from the Premier League, transforming him into one of the league’s standout stars.

Pulisic’s market value skyrockets

With his resurgence at San Siro, Pulisic’s price tag has reportedly tripled since his arrival at the club. Just two years ago, he was deemed a risky investment—Chelsea had paid $75 million for him in 2019, but injuries and inconsistency led to his valuation dropping significantly.

When Milan secured his signing in the summer of 2023 for just $24 million, many saw it as a gamble. However, that gamble has paid off handsomely. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the American winger’s market value has soared back to $65-$71 million, bringing him full circle to the valuation he held during his peak years at Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea.

This rapid increase in worth reflects his growing importance to the Italian giant and his return to top form. His role at the club is now more than just that of a promising winger—he is a leader, a consistent performer, and a match-winner.

Gamble that paid off

Pulisic’s move to Milan was met with skepticism. The Blues, having invested heavily in him, ultimately let him go for a fraction of what they paid, seemingly conceding that he had failed to reach his full potential. At first, his performances in Italy followed a familiar pattern—he showed flashes of brilliance but primarily shone from the background.

This season, however, has been different. He has delivered in big moments, scoring crucial goals in both Serie A and the UEFA Champions League. Milan have seen the very best version of Pulisic, the player many believed he could become when he first burst onto the scene at Dortmund.
