Chiefs Roster: Defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu re-signed

According to a report from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Kansas City Chiefs re-signed defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu on Wednesday.

Tuipulotu — a 2021 sixth-round draft selection of the Philadelphia Eagles — signed with the Chiefs in September. He appeared in two Kansas City games in 2024, totaling four tackles. In his career, he has appeared in 30 games with three sacks and a fumble recovery to his credit. Tuipulotu was placed on Kansas City’s Reserve/Injured list with an undisclosed injury on January 10.

After the main wave of free agency, the defensive line has stood out as a roster weakness for the Chiefs. Although Tuipulotu saw very limited action during his one season in Kansas City, more opportunities could surface. The Chiefs have seen defensive tackles Derrick Nnadi and Tershawn Wharton depart as unrestricted free agents. Versatile defensive end Charles Omenihu remains unsigned.

Kansas City will almost certainly take advantage of a strong defensive line class in next month’s draft. But signings like Tuipulotu (and former Minnesota Vikings defensive lineman Jerry Tillery) should give general manager Brett Veach the flexibility he needs to draft for value without being handcuffed to one position.
