NFL ‘Bag’ Hall of Fame: Players who maximized contract leverage | ESPN

Instead, the Jets paid Revis $39 million for two years, as the organization decided to move on after an excellent return in 2015 gave way to a disappointing second season. He parted ways with his agents in May 2016 and signed with the Chiefs late in the 2017 season, but after an underwhelming performance in a playoff loss to the Titans, he was cut. He retired in July 2018.

In all, between signing that first extension with the Jets in 2010 and finishing his career with the Chiefs in 2017, Revis took home more than $101 million — nearly $26 million more than any other cornerback in the league over that span. The only non-quarterback who made more money over that stretch is Ndamukong Suh, who might be part of the 2026 BHOF class next offseason. As good as Revis was as a player, he might have been an even better negotiator.

Ranking Each of the 25 Super Bowl Winners From the 21st Century | Bleacher Report

10. 2019 Kansas City Chiefs

Pros: Among teams listed here, only the 2016 and 2014 Patriots turned the ball over less (15 times) than a Chiefs squad that was stacked on both sides of the ball at this point. They also incredibly won all three playoff games by double-digit margins despite trailing by 10-plus points in all three.

Cons: They still lost four regular-season games and went just 3-3 against opponents with winning records. They were rarely dominant.

2025 NFL offseason: Biggest surprise players on each team | ESPN

Kansas City Chiefs

RB Brashard Smith

Judging from how he was utilized in offseason practices, the Chiefs have plans for Smith, a seventh-round draft pick out of SMU. Smith was a wide receiver in college before moving to running back for his final season, and the Chiefs showcased his versatility by getting him the ball out of the backfield, from the slot and split out wide. Smith ran a 4.39 40 at the combine, so he will fit in with a group of other fast skill players, including Xavier Worthy, Hollywood Brown and Elijah Mitchell. — Adam Teicher

Edge

Kansas City lands Hendrickson, who’s trying for a third straight season with 17.5 sacks, a number that led the league in 2024.

Travis Kelce Sounded So Regretful Talking About Old Dating Show ‘Catching Kelce’ | SI

Speaking on an episode of the Bussin With The Boys podcast released Tuesday, the tight end described Catching Kelce as “the worst thing I ever did,” and appeared genuinely regretful to even be talking about it. To be honest, it was quite funny (considering we personally do not share Kelce’s embarrassment).

“It didn’t set me up for anything. I didn’t realize what reality TV really was,” Kelce said of the show, laughing. “I don’t even think anybody watched it.”

He added: “I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m having fun, I’m having fun, I’m having fun,’ and then I was like, ‘Oh sh—, everybody is going to be able to see this forever.’”

Kelce said the show led to some season-long teasing from his teammates, but he found that fun—which isn’t surprising. “It’s locker room banter, it’s all fun,” he mused. And out on the field, he “had a pretty solid year after that,” so “it wasn’t like I wasn’t being accountable.”

Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill wants an AFC Championship matchup vs. Chiefs | Chiefs Wire

Miami Dolphins superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill began his career with the Kansas City Chiefs. Since then, he has hoped for the same team success he once enjoyed as a Super Bowl champion in 2019.During an appearance on ‘The Glory Daze’ podcast with Johnny Manziel, the All-Pro receiver called his shot regarding a dream scenario with his former team for the right to play in the Super Bowl.”We all know that Tua is the best quarterback in the NFL; we all know that, right?” Hill told Manziel, “It would be a great thing, playing against the former team, playing against Andy (Reid), Pat (Mahomes) and the guys, (Travis) Kelce, it would be great, man. It would be a very emotional game for me, dawg.”

Around the NFL

At annual Sack Summit, Maxx Crosby stresses Raiders have ‘a lot of work to do’ | The Athletic

Even more than returning to form individually, Crosby’s focus lies on changing the Raiders’ fortunes as a franchise. He’s already committed to the team for the long haul — he’s signed through the 2029 season.

But he has had more head coaches (five) than winning seasons (one). He won’t be satisfied until that latter number starts to increase.

“Anytime you go out there, you want to be in a position to win,” Crosby said. “Individual success and things like that are awesome, but it’s not why you play the game. You play to win. We just saw it in the NBA: OKC, just a couple years ago, was one of the worst teams in the league. But they had a lot of young guys, they trusted the process, they developed and now they’re the world champions.

Hall of Famer Randy Moss set to return to NFL television gig after missing time due to cancer treatment | CBS Sports

Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss is continuing to “Moss cancer.” The NFL legend is expected to return to his full-time roll on ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown, after missing two months due to a cancer diagnosis last season, confirmed by The Athletic.

Last year, Moss revealed he was receiving treatment for cancer found outside his bile duct between his pancreas and liver. He announced in December that he underwent a successful surgery and received chemotherapy and radiation.

Moss needed to focus on his recovery, so he was unable to appear on Sunday NFL Countdown for some time last season, but made a special return for their Super Bowl edition of the show. Now the 48-year-old is ready to be back with the team for the 2025 NFL season.

“Randy’s return on Super Bowl Sunday was an emotional lift — not just for our team but for the entire football community — and knowing he will resume his full Sunday NFL Countdown schedule, beginning in Week 1, has been the highlight of the offseason,” ESPN said in a statement.

Is the NFL moving to an 18-game schedule? Negotiations not expected to begin any time soon, per report | CBS Sports

Adding an 18th game has been seen as inevitable, as CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones reported from the league’s annual meetings back in April, though it was “not a focus of our discussions by any stretch of the imagination” at the time, commissioner Roger Goodell said.

Last year, NFLPA executive director Lloyd Howell revealed the players association had been involved in informal talks regarding an 18-game schedule, but as Maske reports, those discussions have not led to formal negotiations, and that is unlikely to change before early next year.

Between now and then, Howell plans to have “team-by-team meetings with players to set the NFLPA’s bargaining priorities,” a source told Maske, and the union could begin formal negotiations in March after player representative meetings.

Chiefs Roster: Which 2022 draft pick has the best contract year?

Safety Bryan Cook

Cook is a decent candidate to get paid in free agency. Cook hasn’t played great in the NFL so far, but young safeties in their primes get paid. Safety Trevon Moerhig just signed a three-year, $51 million deal this offseason. If Cook can show more ball production and tackling this season, he could get paid.

However, that would require a massive leap from him. Cook has somewhat of a JAG (just a guy) on this defense for two seasons, which isn’t great for his prospects of getting paid.

Linebacker Leo Chenal

Of all these players, this one fascinates me the most. Chenal is such an interesting player. His strengths — his blitzing, ability to hold and plug a gap, take on blocks — are all 99th percentile. The issue with Chenal is that he’s limited in every other way.

Now, if Chenal can show more development in the other aspects of his game, teams could buy his upside. There are defenses around the league that weaponize players with his skill set, but he needs to show more as a traditional linebacker. He will struggle to get paid if he can only play 30-40% of snaps. Chenal’s going to have to prove that he’s able to play more snaps.
