Chelsea and Liverpool are both interested in signing Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano, considering him a top player with the potential to make strong impact over the coming years. However, they are both aware that Aston Villa feel the same way about the 22-year-old and have no desire to part ways with him, having made considerable profit through the sale of Jhon Duran to Al-Nassr last year.
In case Rogers proves unobtainable, as is likely enough, Chelsea are expected to pursue a deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Bynoe-Gittens. With the Bundesliga side keen on turning the loan of Carney Chukwuemeka into a permanent deal, they feel it would be a much more realistic goal to achieve. Liverpool, who have sent scouts to watch Rogers on several occasions, will have alternative targets of their own if they cannot prize him away from Villa Park.
Rogers has 14 goals and 13 assists to his name in 50 appearances in all competitions for Villa this season.
