The Rome Masters 1000 will be the tournament in which fans will be able to admire Jannik Sinner on the tennis court again. The world number 1 is serving the ban period – the result of his agreement with WADA – which began on February 9 and will end on May 4, in which he had to agree to stay away from the sport he loves despite having been acquitted of all charges in the first instance.

In a recent interview with ‘Sky Sport Italy’, the 23-year-old from Sesto Pusteria confessed that he feels good in this period and that he is dedicating his time to different activities together with all the people who love him. It is clear that the 3-time Grand Slam champion would have preferred to compete on the professional tour, but his legal team explained to him that this suspension was to avert the risk of greater injustice.

WADA had requested a ban of one to two years against him and no one can know what outcome the trial before the CAS in Lausanne (which was scheduled for mid-April) would have had. Despite having played only one tournament in 2025 – the Australian Open (won for the second year in a row) – Jannik has a huge chance of returning to the tour again as world No.1, given the disappointing results obtained by Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz in the last two months.

Ruud defends Sinner again

In a recent interview on the eve of the Monte Carlo Masters 1000, Casper Ruud once again expressed all his solidarity with Sinner: “I have always said professed his innocence and he was very unlucky, especially for the way that product entered his body. It must not have been easy to accept not playing for three months despite the fact that you are not to blame. I never had the slightest doubt about Jannik’s good faith.”

Everyone is wondering what the level of the Italian champion will be when he returns to action, moreover on the surface less suitable for his game.
