Knicks legend Carmelo Anthony is cutting through the noise with his take on the Lakers trading Anthony Davis for Dallas star Luka Doncic.

Many in the NBA community couldn’t wrap their head around the trade, since Luka Doncic just took the Mavs to the NBA Finals last season and is one of the top five players in the league.

There was outcry, particularly from Mavs fans, who have burned jerseys and cancelled their memberships, which is the natural reaction to a franchise traded away its beloved face.

But Melo has provided a different perspective.

“It’s a really, really good trade, right?” Anthony said on 7PM in Brooklyn. “… They’re (the Mavericks) gonna be better differently than they were before because now, what A.D. been complaining about, ‘I want to play the 4. I need a 5 over here with me.’ He got that. … He got two athletic 5s that’s down there, so you ain’t gotta worry about doing all of that.

“You got Klay over there. People forget about Klay. You still got Kyrie now. Now, Kyrie is the lead guard in a situation that, we have an opportunity to go out there and win. We had an opportunity with Luka to go out there and win, but something was gon’ have to happen between the two of them.”

In terms of the Lakers getting Luka, LeBron James seems excited to be pairing up with the Slovenian superstar.

“Luka’s a big time player,” James said. “25 years old. Haven’t even reached his prime yet and he’s done some amazing sh*t in our league already. I’m happy to have him, LA’s happy to have him and it’s still a little bit surreal honestly.”

He was also asked by reporters about the Lakers shifting priorities towards the future and not maximizing his window, to which he answered, “What’s wrong with that? If I had concerns, I would’ve waived my no-trade clause.”
