The Brazilian national team is increasingly close to securing the hiring of Carlo Ancelotti as their new manager, according to transfer market specialist Fabrizio Romano. The journalist reported that the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) “is very confident of getting the green light” for the hiring of the Italian.

This information is consistent with that provided by the Brazilian media. Although this time Romano added that Ancelotti would leave Real Madrid and take command of the Scratch before the 2025 Club World Cup. In addition, he reported that the emissaries of the Federation are in Spain to close the agreement pending the decision of the leaders of the Merengue.

It is worth remembering that the team from the Spanish capital comes from losing the final of the Copa del Rey against Barcelona and that it was eliminated from the UEFA Champions League in a painful way with Liverpool, in the quarterfinals. That is why Carletto was left on the ropes and his departure from the Casablanca is almost a fact.

Contract details

The link, if materialized, would be until the 2026 World Cup and would report an annual salary of 11 million euros. The intention is for Ancelotti to begin his cycle at the head of the Verdeamarela in the South American qualifying matches against Ecuador (June 4) and Paraguay (June 9). The squad should be defined in three weeks, which increases the urgency for the announcement to be formalized.

“He is a great manager of groups, the players consider him the best coach of their careers,” said Ednaldo Rodrigues, the president of the body that governs Brazilian soccer, in July 2023 when versions indicated that there was an approach between the strategist and the leaders.

According to the local press, only formal details remain for the hiring of the 65-year-old coach. “The CBF is practically sure that Carlo Ancelotti will be hired as coach of the national team. Negotiations with the current Real Madrid coach have advanced. But the forecast is that nothing will be announced until the end of this month. Officially, however, the CBF does not confirm that there are even conversations between the parties,” said journalist Lauro Jardim.

Controversy over foreign manager

However, the decision to bring a foreigner is not well seen by everyone in Brazil. Former soccer player Cafú, world champion in 1994 and 2002, spoke out against it: “Abel Ferreira is the best coach in Brazil. If Ancelotti arrives and loses with Ecuador, what will happen?”, he asked in recent statements. In addition, he proposed national names such as Renato Gaúcho, Rogerio Ceni or Filipe Luis.

If Ancelotti’s arrival is confirmed, he would be the first foreigner to lead the Canarinha since the Argentine Filpo Núñez, who led a single match in 1965.

It should be noted that the Verdeamarela is not in a good moment. The historic defeat to the Argentine national team 4-1 expelled Dorival Júnior from office, so the CBF wants to change the soccer course and assemble a project for the next Copa América and the 2026 World Cup.
