Juventus set to appoint Francois Modesto as new Technical director

Carlo Ancelotti’s future at Real Madrid has come under intense scrutiny following the club’s failures in the UEFA Champions League and the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona. Now, reports suggest that the Italian manager has reached an agreement with the club to part ways, raising questions about when he will officially join Neymar‘s Brazil as head coach.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has long been interested in hiring Ancelotti, with president Ednaldo Rodrigues identifying him as a top target in recent years. However, the coach’s contract extension in 2023 complicated those plans—until now.

According to The Athletic, Ancelotti and Real Madrid have reached a verbal agreement for his departure at the end of the 2024–25 season. Although he had previously renewed his contract through 2026, the Spanish giants are reportedly prepared to facilitate his exit following a disappointing campaign.

When could Ancelotti officially join Brazil?

The report adds that Real Madrid plan to announce Ancelotti’s departure before the La Liga season concludes. However, the timeline could shift depending on the result of Sunday’s pivotal El Clásico against Barcelona, which could decide the title race between both sides.

Ancelotti reportedly agreed to join the national team, and the CBF had initially hoped to finalize the deal in late April, even sending representatives to Spain to initiate talks. However, the club’s reluctance to pay a contract termination fee nearly derailed the negotiations.

Real Madrid’s final La Liga match of the season is scheduled for May 25 against Real Sociedad, which would give Ancelotti time to finalize his move to la Verdeamarela. The CBF expects him to be on the sidelines for Brazil’s next match on June 5.

Brazil will face Ecuador on the road and Paraguay at home during the June international window as part of the CONMEBOL 2026 World Cup qualifiers. With Neymar expected to return from injury and Ancelotti at the helm, the CBF hopes to build a title-contending squad for the tournament to be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
