Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti believes that the two titles his team is still competing for this season “depend on beating Barcelona.” He referred to their upcoming clash in the Copa del Rey final, which will be played next Saturday in Seville:“It seems that they are better than us, but a final is unpredictable,” he said ahead of tomorrow’s match against Getafe for matchday 33 of LaLiga.
Despite the elimination against Arsenal in the Champions League quarterfinals, the Merengue team is still alive in two local tournaments: they are second, four points behind their eternal rival, with six matches remaining before the end of the domestic tournament, and they will also define the main cup of their country against the Catalan club. Regarding this definition, Ancelotti pointed out: “We have the confidence that we can achieve it. We have to change something in that sense and we are going to do it. Putting ourselves in the place of the victim seems exaggerated to me.”
On the other hand, the coach who has won five UEFA Champions Cups (three with his current team and two with Milan of Italy), remarked: “The club is aware that it has been a more complicated year than the last. Together, we manage the difficulties. I am very happy, very happy, with a lot of pressure, but this is always the case. Stress is fuel for me, it doesn’t bother me, it gives me more energy to think more things. The honeymoon continues.”
Faced with rumors of a possible departure, he stated: “I love this bench. May this continue as far as possible and if one day it ends, I will take off my hat with this club. Nothing more.” His signed link with La Casa Blanca extends until June 30, 2026.
