After months of trying to get his dream fight, Jake Paul has settled for a meeting with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr on June 28. Instead of facing him in the ring, Jake’s ideal opponent, Canelo Alvarez, has weighed in on the fight.
‘The Problem Child’ has done a fantastic job of keeping his name in the limelight since dedicating his life to the sweet science. His last outing came with much backlash after the now-28-year-old urged Mike Tyson to return to the sport before comfortably beating him by unanimous decision.
Jake Paul now sets his sights on his next opponent. Jake has signed the dotted line and agreed to face yet another ageing challenger.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is approaching his 40th birthday and will make the walk to the squared circle for just the second time in four years when he collides with Jake Paul in two months.
During a recent interview, Canelo Alvarez shared his thoughts about the bout.
“Yeah, I hope [Chavez Jr beats Jake Paul],” Alvarez said. “I support, obviously, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and I hope he wins.”
“[I hope] he prepared himself really [well] and [took] care seriously, and beats him.”
Jake Paul is aiming to go from strength to strength in his boxing career. His record currently sits at 11-1, with his sole defeat coming against Tommy Fury—a fight we may see again.

Though his fight against Canelo Alvarez didn’t come to fruition, Jake believes if he keeps performing inside the ring, it will one day become unavoidable for Alvarez.
The Mexican icon will fight William Scull on May 3, which will serve as his first outing under his new contract with Turki Alalshikh.
If all goes to plan, Alalshikh could be working toward a super-fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford shortly.
