As a top prospect for the 2026 class, Caleb Holt recently scheduled official visits to Alabama and Auburn for October. The 6’5″ shooting guard will attend Prolific Prep for his senior high school season.
Caleb Holt is ‘Tesla Bros’ with Alabama Assistant Coach
In an interview with Rivals, Holt recently opened up about Alabama and Auburn. As a native of Huntsville, it is Holt’s dream to play for the Crimson Tide.
“Alabama is my hometown, so it’ll be a dream to play for my hometown state,” he said. “But I’m going on based off fit.”
Holt revealed that Alabama head coach Nate Oats has been in contact with him since the 8th grade. Moreover, he shares a close relationship with Crimson Tide assistant coach Preston Murphy.
Murphy seemingly owns a Tesla Cybertruck, which has a starting price of nearly $80,000, according to US News & World Report. Holt also drives a Tesla vehicle, which has forged a unique bond between the two.
“Man, it’s great,” he said. “Preston (Murphy), when he calls, sometimes we don’t even talk about basketball, like we talk about cars. We have that in common. He drives a Cybertruck, and I drive a Tesla, too. So we Tesla bros. So it’s cool, though. He’s a good person. I got a good vibe with him and everything. So it’s good.”
Holt also had good things to say about Auburn’s Bruce Pearl and Ira Bowman.
In an interview with Zagsblog, Holt revealed that while he has a soft spot for Alabama, coach Pearl is the one who made him push himself with a text message.
“I like Bruce [Pearl],” he said. “He texted me before the game and told me to show the world why I’m the best 17-year-old in the country. I feel like I have a chip on my shoulder because they dropped me in the rankings. So every time I step on the court, I feel like I’ve got to prove something that I’m still here and I’m ready to dominate every game.”
