Brooks Koepka recalls Tiger Woods’ reaction to his worst shot at Ryder Cup

Brooks Koepka had a lot of ups and downs during his career, but he always remained determined to get back in shape and forget about some bad performances. Of course, the experienced golfer, like every golfer, had some bad moves, which loyal fans remember.

Ricky Elliott, his caddy, during a guest appearance on ‘Talking Smash’, reflected on Brooks Keopka’s disastrous shot during the 2016 Ryder Cup.

“Probably Ryder Cup in 2016, playing with Sneds [Brandt Snedeker] in the foursomes. Tight game, wasn’t it? I think it was Fitz [we were playing against], who was probably only 20 and I think it was Stenson,” Elliott said.

“Sneds hit a lovely drive down the left hand side in the foursomes. It was in the semi-rough, it wasn’t the rough. It wasn’t lying that bad. You were going for the green anyway! So he has leant into it a little bit and shanked it like 45 degrees right, it nearly hit me!

The best thing about that is the oldest saying in golf. The hardest shot in golf is the one after you have shanked one. I said don’t worry about that, Sneds has got the next one in foursomes!”- he said, as quoted by The Golfing Gazzette.

Brooks Koepka talks about reactions

Brooks Koepka revealed the reaction afterwards, recalling that Bubba Watson made fun of him, just like the great Tiger Woods. Koepka made many laugh by saying that the 49-year-old golfer sent him a message afterwards, telling him not to worry because only 10 million people saw it.

Brooks admits he was embarrassed after such a performance at his first Ryder Cup.

Brooks has shown over the years that he is a golfer of really great qualities, and experienced rapid growth after that.

Of course, when you’re such a good golfer, it’s quite natural that you face negative performances and reactions from others.
