Boxing Results: Albert Batyrgaziev Suffers Shocking Stoppage Loss To James Dickens In Istanbul

2021 Olympic Gold Medalist and IBA World Super Featherweight champion Albert Batyrgaziev (12-1, 8 KOs) was stopped by former British champion James ‘Jazza’ Dickens (36-5, 15 KOs) in the fourth round on Wednesday night at the Rixos Tersane Istanbul, in Istanbul. Batyrgaziev was down twice in the fourth round. The bout was halted at 2:26 of the round.

In the first two rounds, Dickens had a pair of good rounds, being a bit quicker than Batyrgaziev. In the third round, Batyrgaziev drew blood from the nose of Dickens halfway through the round with a left to the nose.

In the fourth round, Dickens drew blood from the nose of Batyrgaziev. Dickens landed three lefts to the chin, dropping Batyrgaziev for an 8-count from the referee. Dickens went right after him, pulling his head down and hitting him without warning, then landing a flurry of punches, dropping him again with a right hook on the chin when the corner threw in the towel.

In the co-feature, IBA Super and European lightweight champion Hovhannes Bachkov (8-0,7 KOs) stopped WBA Inter Continental and IBO World champion Xolisani Ndongeni (33-7, 19 KOs) at 1:46 of the ninth round of a scheduled 10 rounds.

In the first two rounds, Bachkov stalked Ndongeni around the ring, getting countered by Ndongeni while landing some body shots in return. In the third round’s midway point, Bachkov had Ndongeni against the ropes, landing a flurry of punches.

In the fourth round, Ndongeni spent some time in the middle of the ring doing well. In the second half of the round, Bachkov scored to the body. In the fifth round’s final minute, Bachkov drove Ndongeni to the ropes.

In the sixth round’s final minute, Bachkov had Ndongeni against the ropes, taking quite a bit of punishment. In the seventh round, beginning Bachkov rocked Ndongeni with a left hook to the chin. In the final seconds, Ndongeni caused blood from the bottom lip of Bachkov.

In the eighth round’s halfway point, Bachkov landed half a dozen unanswered punches. In the final minute, Bachkov hurt Ndongeni with a body shot. In the ninth round, with a little over a minute remaining, Bachkov landed a pair of rights on the chin, dropping Ndongeni as the towel came into the ring from Ndongeni’s corner, forcing referee Luigi Boscarelli to wave it off.

Cruiserweight Ahmad ‘Tank’ Mustafayev (0-1) was defeated by 2001 World Boxing Bronze Medalist Japan’s Madiyar Saydrakhimov (2-0) by a six-round decision, though scoring a knockdown.

In the second round Mustafayev landed the first solid punch of the bout a right on the chin of Mustafayev. With a minute remaining, Mustafayev put his hands in the air and got hit with a left hook on the chin from Saydrakhimov. In the third round, the taller Saydrakhimov landed numerous left hooks to the body of Mustafayev. With a little over a minute remaining, Mustafayev landed a combination to the chin of Saydrakhimov.

In the fourth round, after a minute, a right from Mustafayev drew blood from the nose of Saydrakhimov. In the final minute, he also had a mouth full of blood. In the fifth round, after a minute, a right from Mustafayev on the chin of Saydrakhimov dropped him for an 8-count from referee Sergey Zhurkin.

In the sixth and final round, Mustafayev swung wildly, knowing he needed a knockout. Saydrakhimov controlled the round.

Scores by unanimous decision for Saydrakhimov.

Featherweight Puneh ‘Tina’ Akhundtabar (1-1) lost to southpaw Mizhgona Samadova (1-0) by a six-round decision.

In the first two rounds, Samadova outlanded Akhundtabar. In the fourth round, the southpaw stance of Samadova continued to confuse Akhundtabar, with Samadova controlling with her jab.

In the fifth round, Akhundtabar had a better round with the lead rights in a close round. In the sixth and final round, Samadova won another close round.

Marija Petkovic was the referee.

Welterweight World and European champion southpaw Gulsum Tatar (4-2, 2 KOs) lost to Milana Safronova (1-0), who scored a lone knockdown, over 4×2 rounds.

In the first two rounds, Safronova used effective lead rights to the chin of southpaw Tatar, whose jabs fall short. In the third round, Safronova pushed Tatar to the canvas in the first minute and again at the bell.

In the fourth round, Tatar finally landed lefts to the body of Safronova. Safronova came back in the final minute. In the fifth round’s first minute, Safronova landed a right to the chin, scoring a delayed knockdown for an 8-count from referee Valery Pastuhov. In the sixth and final round, Safronova won another round.

Unanimous decision to Safronova

Bare knuckle Super middleweight Elnur Suleymanov (1-2, 1 KO) lost to Mikhail Kokhanchik (1-0) by a three-round decision.

In the first round’s final minute, Kokhanchik landed a solid jab, causing a cut on Suleymanov’s left eyelid. Seconds remaining, a left hook from Kokhanchik on the chin dropped Suleymanov for an 8-count from Referee Mario Ivanof.

In the second rounds opening minute a right from Kokhanchik opened a cut on the right eye of Suleymanov that started closing immediately. In the third and final round, Suleymanov landed a right to the chin of Kokhanchik, who started moving around the ring, avoiding Suleymanov until the final minute, using his jab.

Unanimous decision for Kohnanchik.

Bare Knuckle super middleweight Murat ‘Lord Pitbull’ Kazgan (2-1, 1 KO) defeated Will Chope (3-8, 2 KOs) by a three-round decision.

In the first round, Kazgan outlanded Chope, cutting his left eyebrow with an overhand right, putting him to the ropes. In the second round, Chope started fast, drawing blood from the left eyebrow of Kazgan when Kazgan came back well. In the third and final round, Kazgan outworked Chope in the first half of the round, when Chope came back well, both landing well at the end.
