Jeremie Frimpong to Liverpool transfer announcement imminent

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly preparing to reignite their interest in Oleksandr Zinchenko, with the Ukrainian left-back likely to leave Arsenal this summer.

According to Football Insider, Dortmund remain admirers of the 28-year-old and are exploring a move ahead of the upcoming transfer window. Zinchenko, who has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates, is not believed to be part of Mikel Arteta’s long-term plans.

Arsenal’s Left-Back Conundrum

Arsenal have seen a shift in dynamics this season with the rise of academy talents like Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri. Lewis-Skelly, in particular, has impressed Arteta and could be set for a regular role at left-back—once Zinchenko’s signature position.

With Riccardo Calafiori battling injuries and Jakub Kiwior largely playing backup to Gabriel Magalhães, Arsenal’s left-back department remains stacked. Kieran Tierney is expected to exit, and Zinchenko could be next.

Zinchenko’s Time at Arsenal Nearing Its End?

Once a key component of Arteta’s inverted full-back system, Zinchenko’s defensive limitations and physical vulnerabilities have seen him phased out. His current deal runs until 2026, but the Gunners could be open to cashing in this summer.

Dortmund and Atletico Madrid Eye Move

Borussia Dortmund are expected to make a renewed push for Zinchenko, offering him a more prominent role than he’s likely to get in North London. Atletico Madrid have also been linked, adding competition for his signature.

While Arsenal will aim to maximise his transfer value, Zinchenko’s contract situation may impact the final fee. All eyes now turn to the Ukrainian international, who must decide whether a fresh start in Germany—or elsewhere—is the right move for the next chapter of his career.
