Canelo vs Crawford has now been officially scheduled for September 13, with Turki Alalshikh confirming the date, with Sela named as the confirmed promoter. The venue, however, remains undecided, though Alalshikh promised more details soon. Anticipation is understandably building around this mega fight, legendary Top Rank promoter Bob Arum spoke to Fight Hub TV and gave his unfiltered view of Canelo’s recent performances.

Canelo vs Crawford Officially Set for September 13

Bob Arum’s Honest Take on Recent Canelo Performances

Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford was officially announced following Canelo’s underwhelming win against William Scull. It was originally announced as a September 12 bout set for Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas. However, The Ring recently reported it would now be September 13, with the venue yet to be confirmed.

When speaking to Fight Hub TV, Arum did not hold back when speaking about the desire of Canelo: “Canelo has shown in his last few fights that he’s just a businessman. He’s not in there to entertain the public. He just takes the big cheque.

“But again, if Canelo really fights, because I think it’s safe to say Terence always fights. He doesn’t know anything else. So then it could be a very good, interesting fight.”

Arum was then asked if he feels Crawford can beat Canelo, he said: “What Canelo is going to show up? The Canelo who’s looking to cash a big cheque or the Canelo that really wants to fight like a fighter? Now, the Canelo we’ve seen the last 2 years is not only boring, but doesn’t really have an incentive to mix it up and to entertain people with a good fight”

Canelo vs Crawford

Looking ahead to this mega fight, the boxing world is expected to see these two legendary fighters collide. Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) will be moving up two weight divisions to challenge Canelo (63-2-2, 39 KOs) for the undisputed super middleweight crown. Should Bud win, he will become the second boxer in the four-belt era to become undisputed in three weight classes, following Claressa Shields, who achieved the feat by beating Danielle Perkins for the women’s heavyweight title on Feb 2, 2025.

Canelo will need to cut the ring opff effectively and work the body of Bud Crawford to slow him down. It’s imperative that Crawford stays mobile, especially early on, and pick his shots carefully. It promises to be a fascinating clash of styles.
