Competition: League One
Market: Wycombe Wanderers win
Odds: 1/2 @ Pribet
Two sides who find themselves battling it out at opposite ends of the League One standings, Wycombe will welcome Shrewsbury to Adam’s Park on Tuesday night.
Starting with the hosts, enjoying what has become a sensational League One romp this season, Wycombe have rightfully received a string of plaudits from across England’s third-tier. Last seen over the weekend collecting a 1-0 victory against Lincoln, the mood in Mike Dodds’ camp appears to be at a red-hot high. Opening the midweek fixtures sat within touching distance of skyrocketing their way into the automatic promotion spots, the Chairboys will be smelling a golden opportunity here. Securing an action-packed 3-2 win away at Rotherham earlier in the month, Wycombe have clinched back-to-back League One victories for the first time since November. It should also be noted, the Buckinghamshire-based outfit have lost just a pair of their previous 13 League One showdowns – a run that stems all the way back to January 7th. Shipping just a single strike at Adam’s Park in over 500 minutes of action, Dodds’ promotion contenders are rightfully pencilled in as a standout contender in midweek.
As for the visitors, although Shrewsbury might have limped their way over the finishing line last season as they managed to keep hold of their League One status, Michael Appleton’s men are seeking a major miracle this time around. Sat rock-bottom of the table and coming under a huge amount of scrutiny, the Shrews open Tuesday’s fixtures sat 14 points adrift of League One safety. Last seen over the weekend getting blown away at St. Andrew’s as they fell to a 4-1 drumming at the hands of Birmingham, the former Charlton boss has seen his struggling squad lose each of their last three outings by an aggregate score of 8-1. In fact, the Shropshire-based outfit have put just a single point on the board from any of their previous eight consecutive outings – a run that stems back to a 1-1 stalemate against Reading on February 11th. Likewise, hit with another 4-1 defeat when they welcomed Wycombe to New Meadow on December 14th, we are expecting a similar home victory here.
