Competition: A-League

Market: Archie Goodwin to score anytime

Odds: 6/5 @ Pribet

Desperate to draw a line under their extended crisis, Adelaide will welcome Wellington to Coopers Stadium on Friday morning.

Starting with the hosts, while Adelaide might have opened the New Year at the heart of a famous AFC Champions League chase, Carl Veart’s men have come crashing back down to earth in a remarkable fashion. Putting in another woeful display last weekend as they slumped to a shock 4-1 drumming at the hands of Perth, the Reds have come tumbling down the A-League standings. In fact, Adelaide open Friday’s return to Coopers Stadium sat outside the play-off places. Heading into March’s international break with an infamous 5-4 defeat at home against Macarthur, Veart’s struggling squad have lost each of their previous four A-League appearances by an aggregate score of 17-10. Gaining a real reputation for their action-packed affairs, it should also be noted that the one-time Sheffield United striker has seen his squad muster just a pair of points from any of their last eight outings – a run that stems back to February 7th.

As for the visitors, although Wellington might have secured an A-League silver medal finish last season, the Phoenix have drastically failed to find a similar level this time around. Making an immediate return to losing ways last week as they fell to a dramatic 3-2 defeat at home against Melbourne Victory, Giancarlo Italiano’s side are scrapping it out at the foot of the A-League table. Despite getting April underway with a 2-1 win away at Newcastle, that is the only victory that Friday’s guests have collected from their previous 10 consecutive appearances – a rut that stems all the way back to January 20th. With their issues underlined by a 6-1 drumming at the hands of Auckland, Wellington have continued to show a string of defensive issues. Including a 4-1 defeat against Western United last month, Italiano’s side have failed to register a single clean sheet since the end of January.

Bet: Archie Goodwin to score anytime against Wellington Phoenix 6/5 for Friday’s A-League matchup @ Pribet
