Welcome, Maniacs! “This Week in MMAmania.com” is BACK.

As you know, MMAmania.com churns out a ridiculous amount of stories weekly. And if you don’t refresh this site constantly, you might just miss an amazing story. Or, if you don’t go read the comments section on each story, you might miss a wisecrack that will leave you LOL’ing.

But, don’t trip — we’ve got you covered. This weekly article will recap the best of MMAmania.com, reviewing the most-read stories, comments, social media posts, etc.

So, sit back and take a gander at the madness of the week that was …

Article of the Week

Last week, the story that attracted the most eyeballs here at MMAmania.com was Jon Jones reacting to Nate Diaz getting jumped by the cast of the knockoff Russian The Ultimate Fighter (TUF). And what “Bones” had to say in hindsight — “play-fighting with Nate was not the best idea” — certainly made sense.

MMAmania.com ‘Comment(s) of the Week:’

Dricus Du Plessis torched Khamzat Chimaev last week for calling his coaches fat, which is ironic because MMAmania.com user, Dread-Pirate-Roberts, pointed out:

“Bones” is basically telling everyone he’s retired, but still won’t vacate his title. And MMAmania.com visitors are getting sick and tired of it:

Former PFL/TUF veteran, Tyler Diamond, has retired from MMA because he “doesn’t have the desire to fight for pennies,” which is totally respectable.

Our very own Andrew Richardson wrote something about his long-time teammate:

Throwback MMA Mania ‘Tweet of the Week:’

Boy oh boy, Julian Marquez sure fumbled this one and paid for it by losing and losing and losing …

‘Fan-Tweet of the Week:’

Jon Jones is getting criticized online for not fighting Tom Aspinall (rightfully so), but dissecting his early Light Heavyweight title reign is going too far?

Fighter ‘Comment of the Week:’

Belal Muhammad admitted he went against his gameplan for UFC 315, which he probably did a little bit, but not giving “JDM” props for his takedown defense is lame.

This Past Week in MMA History:

“Joe Rogan, no disrespect to you or the 16,000 people in this arena, but I have a message for one man – Jon Jones get your sh*t together, I’m waiting for you!”

Memorial Day Weekend was traditionally a massive weekend for the UFC. One standout moment occurred at UFC 187 when… pic.twitter.com/1YoQZ1ppSB

UFC 187

May 23, 2015

In UFC 187’s pay-per-view (PPV) main event, Daniel Cormier submitted Anthony Johnson in the third round, and then dropped a simple, legendary promo directed at the aforementioned Jones:

On the same card, Andrei Arlovski and Travis Browne went to war for nearly five awesome minutes:

Also, Islam Makhachev made his Octagon debut at UFC 187, tapping out Leo Kuntz:

UFC 98

May 23, 2009

The Machida Era started at UFC 98, when Lyoto brutally knocked out Rashad Evans. Said era lasted less than one year, though.

See you guys next week! And be sure to peep those comments sections. Who knows, you might just be highlighted among the “Best of the Best” around these parts.
