Manchester United’s goalkeeping department is set for another revamp in the summer, with the future of Altay Bayindir up in the air at the moment.

The 27-year-old has played nine games this season, the most minutes he has seen since moving to Old Trafford, with Ruben Amorim handing him his Europa League debut as well as his Premier League debut.

And apart from a “top-class” FA Cup showing against Arsenal, he has failed to set the stage alight, committing errors both in the league and in the Carabao Cup.

The Turk has ambitions of starting for his country in next year’s World Cup and for that, he wants to become the No 1 for a team. And with Andre Onana seemingly the top choice at United, the 27-year-old is open to returning to his homeland in search of regular minutes.

Altay Bayindir wants more minutes

Galatasaray have been linked with a move for the former Fenerbahce ace and now, as per POSTA, Besiktas have joined the race for his services.

Former United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly given the green light and Besiktas have offered the Red Devils €3 million for the Turkiye international. The 20-time English league champions are holding out for a minimum €6 million.

The Turkish giants are also prepared to offer a loan deal with an option to buy for that amount, but INEOS might want immediate funds so it is still not certain as to what will happen with Bayindir in the summer.

His market value stands at €10 million and given United had paid €5 million for him in 2023, the club should try and earn a decent profit from his sale.

“Not only giving priority to a striker, Besiktas are also looking for a goalkeeper. Beşiktaş have decided not to continue with Ersin Destanoğlu and have asked for Altay Bayındır from Manchester United.

Besiktas ready with offer for Altay Bayindir

“Kartal, who are looking for a goalkeeper to accompany 36-year-old Mert Günok, started bargaining for Fenerbahçe’s former goalkeeper. Solskjaer also approved Altay.

“Beşiktaş offered 3 million euros for his transfer fee, while the English team wanted 6 million euros. The black and white team’s request for a rental with a purchase option is also on the table. The 27-year-old goalkeeper’s market value appears to be 10 million euros.”

Onana’s future also is far from certain with Amorim not too pleased with the Cameroonian. He has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia while United have been linked with a plethora of goalies.

Should Onana leave, Bayindir’s chances of earning regular minutes could increase. Third-choice keeper Tom Heaton’s contract is up and while the club are trying to agree a one-year deal, there is a chance he leaves as well.
