Bayern Munich and Boca Juniors are set to square off in Matchday 2 of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. With both clubs eyeing a spot in the Round of 16, expectations are high for a full-throttle battle in Group C.

The German powerhouse arrives after making an emphatic statement in its opening match, setting a tournament record with a 10-0 rout of Auckland City FC. Having collected three points against the semi-professional side, Bayern now faces a far greater test — first against Boca, then Benfica — to prove its championship credentials.

Boca Juniors, meanwhile, come into this matchup following a dramatic draw against Benfica. After jumping out to an early 2-0 lead, the Argentine side ultimately settled for a point in a heated contest that saw three red cards handed out. With confidence gained from that performance against European competition, Boca now aims to pull off another shocker against one of the tournament favorites, continuing the trend of surprising results for European teams in this year’s competition.

Boca fans, a unique challenge for Bayern

Boca’s fanbase has already become one of the standout stories of the Club World Cup, with FIFA president Gianni Infantino praising their electric presence in Miami. Turning the city into a home away from home, Boca supporters have filled the stadium with energy and deafening support that’s been hard to ignore. Bayern star Harry Kane acknowledged the challenge Boca’s fans will present, likening the environment to playing a road match.

“It’s going to be loud, it’ll feel like an away game for us, I imagine. Their fans are passionate and will be cheering for their team to win the game. I’m looking forward to the atmosphere. Sometimes the best feeling is playing in a stadium where everyone is rooting against you. We have to be ready for anything. I know there will be Bayern fans as well, and they’ll make their voices heard,” Kane told reporters Thursday.

The England international also offered further thoughts on Boca’s ability to feed off their supporters’ energy: “Boca fans are obviously loud, very passionate. I didn’t watch the (Benfica) match, but we’ve studied them in our preparation. Part of their game is feeding off the energy from the fans and using it as motivation. From what I’ve seen, their supporters will try to make it as difficult as possible for us, and it’ll be up to us to handle that.”

Confirmed lineups for Bayern Munich and Boca Juniors

Bayern Munich’s confirmed lineups (4-2-3-1): Manuel Neuer; Konrad Laimer, Jonathan Tah, Josip Stanisic, Raphael Guerreiro; Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka; Michael Olise, Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman; Harry Kane.Head coach: Vincent Kompany

Boca Juniors’ confirmed lineups (4-3-1-2): Agustin Marchesin; Luis Advincula, Lautaro Di Lollo, Ayrton Costa, Lautaro Blanco; Kevin Zenon, Tomas Belmonte, Rodrigo Battaglia; Alan Velasco; Carlos Palacios, Miguel Merentiel.Head coach: Miguel Angel Russo.
