According to German outlet Bild, Bayern Munich are interested in signing Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao this summer, but the Bundesliga leaders face competition from Arsenal.
Both the Gunners and the Bavarians are looking to revamp the wide attacking positions in their respective squads, and Williams, who scored a very skillful brace in Bilbao’s triumph over AS Roma in the Europa League this week, has emerged as one of the most sought-after players for the role.
The 22-year-old exploded onto the scene at last year’s Euros, playing a major role as Spain claimed the trophy. Barcelona made a strong effort to sign him in the aftermath of the tournament, but Williams decided to remain at his current club for the time being. It remains to be seen if anything has changed since.
This season, Williams has made a total of 36 appearances in all competitions for Bilbao, scoring nine goals and producing seven assists.
