Sri Lanka will be up against Bangladesh in the first of the two-match Test series. This article provides details about Bangladesh Playing 11 vs Sri Lanka for the first match of the series.

Bangladesh Playing 11 vs Sri Lanka- 1st Test, Bangladesh Tour of Sri Lanka 2025:

Openers: Najmul Hossain Shanto (c), Shadman Islam

Bangladesh will look to build on the momentum that the side has got in the form of a win in the last game against Zimbabwe, which they won comprehensively after being defeated in the first game of the home series.

It can be a make-or-break series for Najmul Hossain Shanto, who will continue to lead the team in the series against Sri Lanka and will open the innings with Shadman Islam.

The pair will look to get the team off to a good start and lay a platform for the middle-order batters to score on.

If we talk about the recent individual performances of captain Najmul Hossain Shanto in international it hasn’t been impressive.

Having said that, he has been in good form in the Test arena and will look to carry that form in an important series against the island nation.

Shanto would also want other batters to contribute to help the team post a challenging total in the opening game.

Shadman Islam, on the other hand, has featured in 22 games so far for his nation in the longest format of the game and will look to improve his record.

The batter will be hoping to get a big score under his belt in the first outing itself.

Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Litton Das (wk), Jaker Ali, Mehidy Hasan Miraz

The opening pair will be followed by an experienced middle order, which has the likes of Mushfiqur Rahim, Mominul Haque, and Litton Das at its disposal.

The Sri Lankan middle order will have to do the bulk of the run-scoring for the team to post a competitive total.

The lower middle order will be taken care of by Jaker Ali and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, both of whom have the capability of contributing valuable runs.

Bowlers: Taijul Islam, Nayeem Hasan, Hasan Mahmud, Nahid Rana

Like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh would also pin their hopes on their spinners to give the team early breakthroughs in the first game of the series against a strong Sri Lankan batting lineup.

The onus will be on Miraz and Taijul Islam, both of whom have the experience to turn the game in Bangladesh’s favor.

Along with the spinners, the fast bowling duo of Hasan Mahmud and Nahid Rana would be ready to put their hand up to bowl and pick up wickets with the new cherry in the first few overs.

The Bangla Tigers are expected to go with five bowlers, including one all-rounder, in the opening game against Sri Lanka.
