Arsenal should be “all over” 31 G/A star who’s too good for Man Utd, says Stan Collymore

Arsenal have been advised that they should be all over a potential transfer move for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo this summer.

Writing in his exclusive CaughtOffside column, Stan Collymore made it clear that he felt Mbeumo was too good to be thinking about joining Manchester United.

Mbeumo has just had a superb season with Brentford, showing himself to be one of the finest attacking players in the Premier League.

The Cameroon international finished the 2024/25 campaign with 23 goals and eight assists in all competitions for club and country.

Discussing Mbeumo’s situation this summer, Collymore said: “Given the season that he has just had, he has earned the right to play European football in 2025-26. In most cases, going from Brentford to Man United is a big step up, but with Mbeumo, he can do so much better.

“He’s been linked to Newcastle, but for me, I also think Aston Villa would be a really good fit. He would be working under a manager that would continue to get the best out of him, and he would be playing regularly in the Premier League and Europa League.

“Arsenal should also be all over him, as he would be a sensational addition to their attack.”

How does Bryan Mbeumo compare to Arsenal’s other attackers?

Mbeumo has some impressive numbers, but overall it’s not that clear if he’d be quite enough of an upgrade on what Arsenal already have, if you look at the graphic below…

Mbeumo has some areas where he’s a bit better than Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, but others where he seems to offer less.

And you’d imagine those are the players he’d be competing with, as there’s surely no pushing Bukayo Saka out of Mikel Arteta’s starting line up any time soon.
