The January transfer window has come and gone, and despite all the rumours of various targets throughout the first half of the season, Arsenal have not added a centre-forward to their ranks. According to the Independent, they were most keen on RB Leipizig’s Benjamin Sesko, but the services of the Slovenia international would’ve cost an extra £50 million halfway through the campaign, with the German club feeling he has a big role to play in their pursuit of Champions League football for 2025/26.
On the other hand, Sesko agreeing to stay put at the moment is likely a part of an arrangement which should see Leipzig reduce their asking price in the summer, allowing Arsenal to swoop in while still pursuing reinforcements elsewhere – Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, as well as a new winger.
The Gunners apparently considered a move for Alvaro Morata, before the Spain captain left AC Milan for Galatasaray, but they felt that Morata simply does not bring the sort of pressing they expect from a central attacker.
