Arsenal are in pole position to sign Joan Garcia from Espanyol, beating off competition from Barcelona and Manchester City for the highly rated goalkeeper. According to Cade Naser, the Gunners have stepped up their pursuit and are prepared to meet his €30 million release clause in the summer.

Joan Garcia: The Next Big Spanish Goalkeeper?

The 23-year-old Olympic gold medalist has impressed with Espanyol, despite their struggles in La Liga. Garcia was already on Arsenal’s radar last summer, but the club fell short of matching his valuation. This time, Mikel Arteta’s side is determined to get the deal over the line.

Garcia’s potential move to Arsenal comes amid growing uncertainty over their goalkeeping situation. While David Raya remains the first-choice keeper, Arteta wants strong competition in the squad.

Barcelona and Manchester City Also Interested

Barcelona have shown interest in bringing Garcia to Camp Nou, but unless they offload one of their current goalkeepers, a move seems unlikely. Meanwhile, Manchester City view him as a potential long-term replacement for Ederson, though Diogo Costa remains their priority target.

Will Joan Garcia Choose Arsenal?

Arsenal are currently the frontrunners in the race, given their long-term interest and clear plan for his development. If Barcelona fail to offer him the No.1 role, Garcia seems destined for a Premier League move, where he could compete with Raya and develop under Arteta’s system.
