Arsenal considering move for Viktor Gyokeres

Arsenal are wasting no time in the transfer market as they open talks with Sporting CP to sign red-hot striker Viktor Gyokeres. The move is being driven by newly-appointed sporting director Andrea Berta, who is eager to make the Swedish international his first major signing.

According to Football Insider, the Gunners are pushing to finalise a deal early, aiming to beat off stiff competition from clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United. Berta views Gyokeres as the ideal No.9 to lead Arsenal’s line next season—a role the squad has sorely lacked despite an impressive run to the Champions League semi-finals and second place in the Premier League.

Gyokeres: The Striker Arsenal Need

Gyokeres has been in sensational form, bagging 47 goals and 11 assists across all competitions this season. With a €100 million release clause in his contract, the 26-year-old won’t come cheap—but a deal in the region of €65-70 million could be enough to tempt Sporting CP into selling, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Mikel Arteta’s side have reportedly cooled interest in other striker targets such as Ollie Watkins and Alexander Isak, making Gyokeres their primary focus. The Swede is open to the move, and Arsenal are determined to secure his signature before pre-season, avoiding a potential bidding war later in the window.

Arsenal Move Early to Beat Rivals

Arsenal’s intent to move early could be crucial. Chelsea and Manchester United, led by Ruben Amorim who previously coached Gyokeres, are circling. But if Berta can close the deal soon, the Gunners could have their striker solution sorted long before August.

With Champions League ambitions and a Premier League title push on the horizon, landing Gyokeres might just be the missing piece Arsenal need to go all the way.
