The basketball script writers have dealt a cruel hand to Anthony Davis and the Mavericks.

Davis has long been ridculed for his often-injured state in the NBA with the Lakers, however last season he played 76 games (his most ever) and played in 42 games for the purple and gold this season before being traded.

AD had his first game for the Mavericks against the Rockets on Saturday and was absolutely on fire before going down.

He seemed to fit right in in Dallas and seemed hyped about his debut since he yelled, “I’m here” after throwing down a big dunk.

The big man had 26 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks, before going down with a non-contact injury with 1:37 left in the third quarter.

Davis was then ruled out for the remainder of the game and the team ruled him out for Monday’s game against the Kings.

Since then, Marc Stein has reported that there are fears Davis could be sidelined indefinitely with an adductor strain.

Shams Charania then reported that the center is expected to miss multiple weeks and that the absence “could stretch to a month.”

After the game, (and before these reports) AD himself didn’t seem too concerned with the injury.

“Just the leg got tight, like a little spasm,” Davis said. “Just came back and tried to get it loose and everything. Obviously, dealing with the ab strain still, so just tried to get it loose. It wouldn’t really loosen up and let go, but it’s nothing serious. I’m fine.”

Since he will miss multiple weeks, Davis will now need to be replaced for the All-Star game that will take place this coming weekend.

The league will need to fill two replacement spots, since Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo was also ruled out with a calf strain in the last 12 hours.
