According to The Telegraph, Ange Postecoglou is very likely to leave Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season, regardless of what his team may do in the Europa League.
Having disposed of Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League quarterfinals, Spurs are set for a semifinal clash with Bodo/Glimt, and sitting 16th in the Premier League table with 37 points – 20 less than Aston Villa in seventh – a potential triumph in that competition remains the only way they can qualify for any of next season’s continental competitions.
That scenario could save Postecoglou’s job, but it is believed that it still wouldn’t be enough. It seems the club hierarchy are wary of repeating the mistake Manchester United made – they were on the verge of sacking the Dutchman but chose to trigger a one-year extension in his contract instead after he led the team to FA Cup glory, only to sack him a few months into the following season.
Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola and Fulham’s Marco Silva are considered as the leading candidates to replace Postecoglou.
