Brian Norman Jr. defended his WBO welterweight title on Thursday by knocking out Jin Sasaki inside Ota City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan. The 24 year-old “Assassin” improved to 28-0 with 22 knockouts and is quickly becoming one of the most feared pugilists in the “sweet science.”
Norman Jr. was quick to mock Jaron “Boots” Ennis, who recently jumped to super welterweight.
“About the future, I mean wish I had a certain fight coming up,” Norman Jr. said inside the ring. “But they heard B-Norm the storm coming, and you know what happens when the storm comes, you grab your ‘Boots’ and run. We shall see what’s next for me. Hopefully October or November we can get something in, but we shall see.”
Elsewhere on Thursday’s fight card, welterweight Sora Tanaka stopped Takeru Kobata by way of third-round technical knockout, not long after featherweight Reiya Abe outlasted Yuya Oku via unanimous decision. In addition, Thanongsak Simsri narrowly defeated Cristian Araneta by split decision in their IBF light flyweight title fight.
