Alisson Becker has provided an update on his injury status after the Liverpool goalkeeper was involved in a clash of heads while on international duty.

The 32-year-old started in nets for Brazil in their 2026 World Cup qualifier against Colombia on Friday night, but had to be substituted off following a collision with former Spurs centre-back Davinson Sanchez.

Alisson received treatment on the pitch and was replaced by Al-Nassr shot stopper Bento in the 78th minute.

Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar confirmed that he would undergo tests after suffering a suspected concussion.

Alisson injury update as Liverpool keeper leaves Brazil camp

“Alisson suffered a head injury and was replaced due to a suspected concussion,” he said.

“We will now follow the CBF protocol, and he will undergo the recommended imaging tests, a CT scan and then a diffusion MRI. If all the tests are normal, we will proceed and perform a cognitive test. Then we will evaluate the player.

“He is normal, without any complaints. He did not report any fainting or memory loss.”

Alisson has since left the Brazil camp and returned to Liverpool for further assessment, meaning he will miss the huge qualification bout with rivals Argentina in Buenos Aires.

The former Roma goalkeeper posted a message on Instagram to let Liverpool supporters know he is doing fine and following head injury protocols.

“Hey guys, just to let you know I’m fine!” he posted on social media. “Just have to follow the protocols! Thanks for the messages.”

Liverpool will be hoping Alisson will be cleared to return to action before they face Everton in their next Premier League outing. The Merseyside Derby takes place on 2 April after the international break and the next round of FA Cup matches.
