Adoree’ Jackson said watching the Eagles’ rookie cornerbacks thrive last season made him smile

The Eagles added veteran CB Adoree’ Jackson to the secondary, and he spoke to reporters after arriving to Philly to sign his new contract.

He considered signing with the Eagles the last time he hit free agency coming out of Tennessee, but explained that he chose the Giants because of the familiarity with so many players and staff. Jackson named guys like Saquon Barkley and James Bradberry as reasons he signed with New York, but noted he didn’t talk to Bradberry before signing with the Eagles.

Jackson did, however, talk to Barkley, and the RB told him that everyone in that locker room competes at everything they do, and that was all his former teammate needed to hear. Jackson said that whether it’s rock paper scissors, cards, or swimming, he wants to compete and be around guys who feel the same way.

The CB said that it’s cool that he’ll now be the older veteran in the room, and he’s excited to help the younger guys and to also learn from them, too.

“I’m not gonna lie, I really liked [Quinyon] Mitchell. I remember saying it — I don’t remember what game we were watching on tape, but I was like, ‘Damn, I haven’t seen a rookie play that well in — it’s been awhile.’

And then Cooper [DeJean] doing his thing. Yeah, that was a trip, because you know they have the thing about first white DB since whatever, whatever, so to see him thrive and do his thing, being a DB it made me smile.

It’s always cool to see somebody else, especially in the position that you’re in, knowing how tough it is, and the stuff you go up against, and to see those two thrive, especially at a young age, it put a smile on my face.”

Jackson was asked about his first career pick six on Christmas Day 2023 against the Eagles, and he said that it didn’t mean a whole lot considering the Giants ended up losing. More than the pick 6, the CB explained that he remembered the next drive when the Eagles were looking at 3rd and 20-something yards, Jackson was on the sideline getting oxygen, and A.J. Brown converted to eventually put the game out of reach.

He repeated several times at the end of his press conference that he’s most looking forward to competing and having fun, which means he should fit right in.
