Matthew Stafford ‘Excited’ To Be Back With Rams

The Los Angeles Rams’ biggest order of business thing offseason has been taken care off as they were able to agree to a restructured contract with Matthew Stafford to bring the quarterback back for the 2025 season.

Things got a little dicey as the Rams allowed Stafford to speak with other teams to gauge what a new contract would be worth. While trade possibilities were out there, in the end, Stafford and the Rams both felt the best option was to stay together, so they were able to get a deal done.

Now that he is officially back for the 2025 season, Stafford expressed his excitement to continue playing for the Rams and helping out in the local community, per Adam Grosbard of the Los Angeles Daily News:

“I’m excited to be back,” Stafford said. “I’m excited to be able to do things like this in a community that I’ve been in for four years now and hopefully will continue to be in for a long time. I’m definitely excited for the opportunity not only to play and do all that but to get involved and really start figuring out places and things I can do to give back.”

Stafford and the Rams won a Super Bowl together in his first season with the team and coming off a disappointing end to the 2024 season, they clearly want to bring another trophy to L.A. in 2025.

Even at the age of 37, Stafford remains one of the best quarterbacks in the league, especially in big games. With a young and talented roster around him, the Rams will certainly be in the mix to win it all this season if they can stay healthy.

Sean McVay: Rams will go ‘year-to-year’ with Matthew Stafford

The terms of Matthew Stafford’s restructured contract are not out yet, but Sean McVay revealed the Rams will go year-to-year with the quarterback.

“But we’ve always had great dialogue, and I think it’s really been kind of a year-to-year thing,” McVay said. “He’s obviously under contract for two more years with us, but as long as he wants to play, I know we’re feeling really good about that.”
