Liverpool have announced that the club have made a pre-tax loss of £57m for the 2023/24 season accounts.

The Reds’ loss is £48m more than the previous year’s accounts, in large part due to the club’s absence from the Champions League last season.

The accounts cover Jurgen Klopp’s final season in charge, in which the Merseysiders won the Carabao Cup, finished third in the Premier League and reached the last eight of the Europa League and FA Cup.

However, Liverpool’s overall revenue rose by £30m as the Reds surpassed £300m in commercial revenue for the first time.

Premier League clubs are permitted to lose no more than £105m over a rolling three-year period to remain compliant with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). Liverpool’s loss over the last three seasons stands at £58.5m, following a £7.5m profit in 2021/22.

Liverpool’s revenue for this season is set to swell significantly. The Reds are 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League and on course for title success with 10 games to go.

Additionally, the Reds have already banked a whopping £82.7m from this season’s re-formatted Champions League. The new league phase included two extra games, while Liverpool’s finish as league phase winners earned them additional revenue.

Their revenue from Europe this season includes an estimated participation fee of £15.5 million, plus an additional £9.2 million for reaching the knockout stages.

The points Liverpool won in the league phase are valued at £12.3 million, with a £10.4 million bonus or winning the entire league stage. Liverpool also received a further £26.5 million due to its market pool and five-year coefficient, while their 10-year UEFA coefficient has earned the club an extra £8.7 million.
